Creating guided experiences

I come from an artistic tradition that values creating things that are meant to be shared, offerings of little to no cost that will illuminate or delight.

These are a few of the experiences I made to share with the band of glorious weirdos who are part of my annual artist’s retreat north of Mendocino.

In one, I handmade accordion books for each person attending and provided a crayon and directions to each contemplative walk. When the participant was finished, they had a physical reminder of their pilgrimage.

In another, I offered a series of audio contemplations on iPod minis. The clay figure, or Watcher, was handmade by me and represented the participant's consciousness. The Watcher could absorb memories and nuances of the space and hold them, allowing the participant to take home far more than just their personal experiences.

One year, I and four other artists created a “Princestallation” to offer tribute to the recently departed Prince. Most of these included audio and visual elements.
